Board members
Originally from London and raised in Los Angeles, Naeem graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a degree in finance and accounting. He then worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse for 2 years and private equity at Oaktree Capital for 2 years. Naeem is now currently completing his MBA from Harvard Business School. Naeem was originally involved with the YD LA chapter and has spent the last 3 years on YD’s national board.
Originally from Los Angeles, Talib went to school at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he majored in finance and accounting. Post graduation, Talib worked in investment banking with UBS Investment Bank as an Analyst in Los Angeles. After 2 years, he left banking and went into Private Equity, where he worked for Apollo Management in Los Angeles and focused on retail, food retail and consumer products companies. After four years at Apollo, Talib joined his family textile business, which where he is currently working. They are a manufacturer, importer and distributor of towel and linens products. Talib got involved with DIL at a young age as his mother was part of the founding members when DIL first started in Long Beach, CA, so he has always been around the organization. Most recently, he has spent 2 years working with the Los Angeles chapter, then joined the national team this past year team as the finance director.
Sophia lived in Saudi Arabia, Germany and Pakistan before she moved to New York to attend the Stern School of Business at New York University. After graduating from Stern in 2004 with a BSc. in Finance and Accounting, she worked at Deutsche Asset Management within Business Development Services. Sophia is currently completing her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Sophia has been involved with YD since 2005; prior to joining YD’s national board she served as a volunteer, board member, and chapter head for the New York chapter.
Spending the first few years of his life in Kuwait, London, and Pakistan, Jassim was raised in Manhattan Beach, California. He took a quick trip up coast to attend UC Berkeley, graduating with a degree in economics and city planning. Shortly thereafter, he founded and managed an advertising-supported directory assistance start up with a global presence in London, Lahore, and Los Angeles. He now works on the Content Partnerships team at Google, focusing on the mobile space. Jassim has been invovled with YD since 2007, starting the San Francisco chapter before joining the national board.

Originally from Ohio, Tahira attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 2005 with a degree in finance and minor in science. She worked for Ernst & Young LLP in the Financial Services Advisory practice, focusing on operational change in banks such as Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. Following EY, Tahira joined Perry Capital in 2007, where she continues to work as a credit research analyst. Tahira has been involved with YD since 2006 as a volunteer and Board Member with the New York City chapter.

Ahmed Hamid grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Karachi, Pakistan. He attended the University of Michigan Business School, after which he worked as an investment banker at JPMorgan. He currently works at a credit opportunities and acquisition finance shop in New York. Ahmed has been involved with YOUR DIL since 2005 and led the New York chapter during 2009.
Nadia Aftab | Director of Internal Affairs | affairs@yourdil.org
Nadia Aftab works on the consumer/medical public relations team at the Loomis Group, an integrated marketing agency headquartered in San Francisco. Nadia graduated from University of California, San Diego with a degree in communication and minor in economics. Nadia co-founded the San Francisco chapter for YOUR DIL in 2007, and as co-head she built the chapter to have over 500 members and held a variety of events including the Cherry Blossom Festival Gala and the Strings Concert.
