Detroit Chapter

Established in 2009, YOUR DIL Detroit was first of its kind in the Detroit area and gained great momentum in a short span of time. The group strived to spread awareness and gain concern by congregating young professionals to work together and fight illiteracy in Pakistan.

Detroit Chapter History

Our dynamic team hosted the first event “Grill It for Literacy” on June 21, 2009. The event was a BBQ at the park that attracted a huge crowd of a diverse age groups. YD-Detroit managed to raise funds to secure an entire classroom for a year in Pakistan and were featured in two articles in Chicago Urdu Times and Geo Michigan's radio program. With the great success of our first event we managed to increase our volunteer base, and bridged partnerships with influential sponsors in the local community.
